The school consists of a C.A.S.A. approved, air conditioned Office Building and Student Classrooms as well as a separate hangar for aircraft storage. The balconies are spacious with relaxing tropical gardens surrounding the main building.

HELICOPTER TYPES:
To give our students the greatest exposure in their flight training, we use both Bell 47's and R22 helicopters. Many operators tell us they prefer a "Bell" trained pilot even if he or she is going to fly another type. By giving our students a taste of both types - one governed and one not - they appreciate the value of flying rather than just learning how to fly.

CLASS SIZES:
At Blue Tongue, we prefer to keep our classes small - between two to three students at a time. This gives the Instructors and the students a fair go with no long delays between flights.
INSTRUCTORS:
We currently employ two full time Instructors and one part time Instructor. Our Grade I Instructor, Graeme Gillies has over 11,000 rotory hours and our Grade II Instructor, Nathan Covey has 5,000 rotory hours. Both men have extensive backgrounds in the mustering industry and offer our students invaluable lessons learned from many hard hours in the bush. Our part time Instructor, Phil Aldridge has CPLA, CPLH and now his Grade 2 Instructor Rating. All three Instructors are dedicated to aviation and producing highly professional and employable pilots. Experiences of all three Instructors are listed in more detail further down and on our website - www.bluetonguehelicopters.com.au.

ACCOMMODATION:
Student accommodation is available within walking distance from the Airport and costs range from $80 per week depending on individual requirements. There are also several Caravan Parks close to the Airport as well as luxury style accommodation. Private boarding can be arranged prior to arrival and costs range from $150 to $200 per week. This usually includes washing, meals and your own room and desk for studying. Being a holiday destination, the choice of accommodation is limitless and will suit all budgets.
